Our Youth Group at Saint Mark's is for those in grades six through twelve. On Sundays, the youth meet in the youth room for conversation and instruction. They come into church at the Peace for the Eucharistic Prayer and to receive communion. Each month there are social opportunities, sometimes on Sunday afternoons or on Friday or Saturday evenings, and also opportunities for service. Contact Andrea for upcoming events and Sunday discussion topics.
Upcoming: Youth Lock-in
Mark your calendars for April 21-22 for the youth lock-in. The theme of our time together is "Teen Homelessness". Our time together will include a trip to Safe Place for Youth, a youth homeless shelter in Los Angeles, where youth will have the opportunity to complete a service project, learn about the issue of youth homelessness and what is being done to make a difference. We'll then return to Saint Mark's for an evening of games and activities - both fun and educational - in which our youth will have the opportunity to process what they've seen, depend their learning, and discuss how faith can lead to action. As part of the experience, youth will be creating their own sleeping shelters for the evening out of materials we provide and we will be sleeping outside in the safety of the locked backyard of the preschool. (weather permitting). We will have a pancake breakfast Sunday morning and attend church together. This promises to be a powerful, engaging, and bonding weekend for our youth. Need more info?
